Experience:

Martin became a qualified accountant in 1996 whilst working at Linotype-Hell Ltd, a distributor of pre-press printing equipment.  He then moved to an aggregate supplier, Hanson plc, building £multi-million capex proposals, including for a new quarry in Northern Ireland. Promoted to Financial Controller of the fledgling recycling division, he oversaw the full acquisition process of several formerly owner-managed businesses, from due diligence to integration.

At Trelleborg Sealing Solutions he has had two core positions – Management Accounting Manager and Financial Controller, managing a team of 17 at its peak, but also caretaker roles within Purchasing and IT.  He has helped bridge periods between General Managers and completed a Black Belt course in Manufacturing Excellence.

Martin has led various ERP implementations and his advanced Excel knowledge has helped to improve profit and cashflow forecasts and enabled the site to regularly report within 2 days of closing.

He has mentored one of the cross functional Transformation Teams and rebuilt the accounting function into an agile team who have developed processes that are adding a significant value to the way the business is running.
